This gorgeous fella is lucky to be alive!
This tree had a brush with death because of li'l ol' me!

I dug up this Tamarack and planted it on my lawn. That summer it really took off and usually trees are slow to grow there because the conditions are so harsh.
That winter I thought the Tamarack had died as it was needle free.

In the spring I hauled it out of the ground and chucked it on a compost pile.
A day or so later a nieghb stopped by and asked why I had taken down my Tamarack.
I replied.. "Well the darn thing lost it's needles so it's dead!"
My neighb laughed and said, "T_man ya big dummy Tamaracks shed for the winter!"

I hadn't known, so I took the tree off the compost pile and re-planted it.. and hoped for the best. I thought it was goner!

Nope! A happy Tree! it recovered and has been going strong ever since!

Your Ontario description left out a couple of things...hard clay, granite slabs, a cold OV, and catchin walleye by the lips!

do they still brew OV?

I haven't seen Old Vienna lager beer (OV) in years. I don't know if they actually still brew the stuff. They do still brew Red Cap though - different company, and now it has a cooler imager around it - Brick started bottling it in "stubbies" and everyone knows beer tastes better in stubbies.

I have written odes to beer in 'stubbies'!
Truer words Mr. A have never been spoken!
I have spoken "Beer tastes better in stubbies" like it was a Commandment!

I still have my OV openers and I ain't selling them on E-bay!
