Got you Covered
Townes Van Zandt was a songwriter whose songs have been recorded successfully by many musicians. The first record I bought by Mr. Van Zandt (on vinyl by the way) is a great live recording called Live and Obscure, which I highly recommend without reservations. It was on this record I first heard White Freightliner Blues. A White Freightliner, of course, is a truck. This song is very well recorded, and is often played by Bluegrass bands.
Here's a nice performance by Lyle Lovett, with Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss, Faith Hill and Jools Holland.
Here's the New Grass Revival, with some fancy picking.
And one more, a band called Redbird
Interestingly enough, on YouTube there are numerous versions of this tune, but none by the late Mr. Van Zandt.

I miss Townes Van Zandt. I still listen to his LP "At My Window" (on vinyl, of course).
I love your Cover series. I've sent URLs to many people.
Thank you l-girl. I've been having a lot of fun putting them together. Some of Van Zant's songs seem like they've always been there. Tecumseth Valley, Pancho and Lefty, Marie, Two Girls. They're close to flawless in my books.
These are awesome...I'm going to play them over and over all day...thanks!
I love his song "Waiting around to die"
(I have a feeling I've already said that on a blog recently. it wasn't here was it?)
That's a great song nursemyra!
