Wind farm near Shelburne

As some of you know, we're going to adopt a Newfoundland puppy at the beginning of May. I was up visiting the breeder today. The puppy we're planning to get is just over 5 weeks old now, and we'll be bringing her home when she's 8 weeks old, assuming she remains healthy and gets the OK from the vet. We're going to call her Memphis. I won't be posting puppy pictures until we bring her home, so be patient please. I'm considering devoting an entire blog to Memphis for the first year or so, to keep a record as she grows, learns stuff, has adventures and so on. What do you think?

On the way to visit the breeder, I passed the wind farms a few miles west of Shelburne and took these pictures. The light was beautiful today and the colours were just singing. Also, they had some snow on Friday, and you can see bits still on the ground.

Another blast from the past....

Here's another blast from the past. We had seen an exhibition of Jack Shadbolt's work at the Bau Xi Gallery in Toronto, and Mr. Shadbolt was really on his game and the show was fantastic. Tuffy P. wrote a letter to Mr. Shadbolt and suggested lunch next time he was in town. He responded affirmatively, and so when he came to town, a number of us took him out for lunch to some place around Bloor and Bathurst. After lunch, Mr. Shadbolt ordered a martini and started telling incredible stories of his adventures in the art world. It was an amazing day.

Tuffy P unearthed this old photo while packing for our move. That's Claude Breeze, me and Ron Bloore. I don't remember what year this was, but I'd guess it's late 80s.

Historic Building: Detail

Remember this post about the old Bank of Montreal building that's for sale in downtown Rossland? Well, there was an art exhibit in it today, and so off I went to discretely take some photos of the interior of this grand old building, while trying not to be too obvious about the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of our local art. Here are a few shots, and more can be found here.



1. Bank interior. Note arched windows, woodwork, and plaster detail on ceiling. Ignore hideous fluorescent lighting.
