A number of the buildings located on the Humber College grounds around Sam Smith park were part of the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital, originally known as the Mimico Hospital for the Insane. The hospital was built in 1888.
Check out: Asylum by the Lake. In 1991, Humber College secured a 99 year lease on the buildings and started on a major restoration project
