drum class

I learned a lot today at the drum class - how to make the bass, tone and slap sounds, for starts, and then how to make various rhythms. The class was bigger than I expected, a dozen or so people, but this was in part due to it being the birthday of one fellow who was there. Happy Birthday Tony. We drummed as a group, with the teacher, and we also had to demonstrate how well we were doing individually on each rhythm. A big part of this is finding an inner rhythm, relaxing, and not 'thinking' so consciously about what you are doing. I'm looking forward to next week.

By the way, if anyone here in Toronto is interested in this class, you don't have to have your own djembe. They will loan you one for the class. The cost for the class is 20 bucks for two hours. The place is located on the north side of Dundas west of Augusta, just below Kensington Market.

Hey,
I also know a place where you can learn how to play Djembe drum and detailed rhythms from Guinea.
The company is called " Alpha Rhythm Roots ", and they are teaching in Downtown as well.
I've been to many classes and drum circles, but never found someone that would explain how to play that well in such a relaxed and fun environment.
They have non stop weekly classes..summer winter...
A "must ckeck out" for anyone who really wants to learn Djembe drumming in Toronto..

Cheers.
