Although I couldn't find any information about it, I am pretty sure that the Crystal Ballroom was used a teen club briefly in the late 60's early 70's during Detroits music heyday. I am pretty sure I saw Glenn Frey's band Mushroom there. Although I could be confusing it with the Grande.

Anyhow, there is a great site called Rusted Chrome all about the music scene in Detroit in the latte sixties and early 70's including photos of some of the remaining venues. When you look at the names of all the musicians plying their trade there in the late 60's, it is truly amazing.
