Mickey Spillane RIP

"This is an income-generating job," he told The Associated Press in a 2001 interview. "Fame was never anything to me unless it afforded me a good livelihood."

I'm not as familiar with Spillane as I'd like to be, but I do love noir and P.I. stories. I should take this opportunity to get to know him.

Great cover shot, too.

Listening to Sonny Rollins's Saxophone Colossus the other day, I realized one of the tunes was used for a TV version of Mike Hammer. I just read Spillane's obit, a neat coincidence.
