Running clean trains...

I confess I hadn't thought about this issue until I received the link from a friend up in The Junction.

Obviously electric trains would be a benefit to all the neighbourhoods the current diesel trains rumble through. Of course, somewhere along the line, the electricity has to be generated and that is another can of worms, isn't it?

What do you think?

Maybe city trains would make sense, but I'm totally against investing research money in electric cars for the reason you mentioned. You can't just plug these things into a "current" bush.

I live close to the route Dalton's Dirty Diesels will follow and I have some sympathy with the electric train movement. But, nuclear energy isn't exactly clean, especially when you have to deal with the waste. I just can't figure out why the subway doesn't run to the airport as it does in many civilized cities (oh, yeah, there's that damn taxi lobby group that doesn't want it to, but the new LRTs should help). I don't think I would ever take these train. If you have two people, a taxi will be just as affordable. If I am alone, I will take the so-called rocket from Kipling Station or hop on the new Eglinton LRT, once it's built.
