(Slightly) Bleary early morning ride
We were at a party last night for a couple who just got married in Las Vegas. We know the bride as a former neighbour. It was a lot of fun, and even involved some of button accordion playing. I particularly enjoyed some conversations about music with a fellow who plays both piano accordion and guitar and is self-taught on both.
We were up bright and early this morning though, for a bike ride. While we still have some nice weather, we want to take advantage of the bike trails around our house. There are trails (parts on small residential streets) which go to Mimico, then after a mile or so break, continue on to the downtown lakefront trails. In the other direction, there are about 25 km of trails west to Oakville. I don't know if there are trails along the lake beyond that.
Meanwhile, we still have a ton of work to do on the house. With both of us back to work, it seems like it is taking a really long time to get all the work done. There is electrical work going on, and when that is done, we need to build in some book shelves (those who helped us move will say we have too many books). We want to have both painting studios functioning in the next couple weeks. Mine is close, but we have some work to do in Tuffy P's, building some painting racks and painting the floor and putting in some workable lighting. We have a new window going in there next week. There's a window there now, but it doesn't open and we need to have some ventilation.

Oh boy...I bet after three weeks it starting to feel painfully slow going.
I bet as soon as the electrical work is done, commisioned book shelves built...the whole place will feel completely different. And closer to lived in.
Everything will be a lot smoother going after that I am sure.
I love all the bike trails and am a beach bunny spent many entire days in the culture that takes place there. Some times I've asked myself "does anybody work in this town?"
If you don't already have one...you should be able to download a bike trail of Lake Ontario here:

Or phone the city and they will mail you a variety of the bike trails.
Thanks Candy. It'll take us a while to exhaust the ones outside our door, but eventually we'll get to the ones further afield. I also should say that our Mayor and City Council have done a great job designating bike lanes on lots of streets over the past year or so. I'm usually pretty quick to criticize our municipal government, so I should give them credit where it is due.
Sounds (and looks- that yard!) like a fantastic neighborhood you've moved into.
It's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you're tripping over tools and shuffling boxes, but I'm sure it will be wonderful when it's done!
