What's going on with the Conservative Party of Canada

Last election, they campaigned on an anti-corruption platform. Check this out. Apparently, the Tories had an elaborate scheme to exceed election spending limits by over a million dollars. This involved sending money to candidates who turned it around and sent it back to the party.

From the CBC: "According to the documents, Elections Canada alleges the Conservatives overspent on election ads by disguising national ads as local expenses in an elaborate plan that involved the participation of 67 candidates — including four cabinet ministers."

If the allegations are true, the Prime Minister should resign and we should have an election at the earliest opportunity.

Oh please please please let that selfish bastard who does not believe in equal rights for gays and women resign oh please please please!

He should never have been elected in the first place since he is this side of treason!

"The establishment came down with a constitutional package which they put to a national referendum. The package included distinct society status for Quebec and some other changes, including some that would just horrify you, putting universal Medicare in our constitution, and feminist rights, and a whole bunch of other things."
- Conservative leader Stephen Harper, then vice-president of the National Citizens Coalition, in a June 1997 Montreal meeting of the Council for National Policy, a right-wing American think tank.

Election now!

Seconded?

Dion? ... Dion? ... Dion?

Harper's lack of personality is a stalking-horse for a an agenda that would parallel that of the Bush misadministration.

They were elected on promises of probity, fiscal responsibilty, and "opne, honest, accountable" government. Since then they've:

1) Cut the national press out of cabinet.

2) Mandated that all communications pass through the PMO, much in the way that palm leaves pass through an elephant's digestiove system, and with similar results.

3) Been fingered in a dozen minor scandals and at least two big ones.

4) Attempted to conceal who's sponsoring their legislation.

5) And defended it all by saying "Hey, at least we weren't in on the sponsorship scandal!"

It is truly unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be a way of impeaching Harper, nor of tarring and feathering the Reform, sorry ... the Alliance ... sorry, the Conservativy Party of Canada (Canada's NEW Government(TM), and GREEN!).
