The Weirdness
Iggy Pop on vocals-Ron Asheton on guitar- Scott Asheton on drums-Mike Watt on bass!! Steve MacKay on sax-Brenden Benson on harmony vocals "on" Free and Freaky. The Stooges on mySpace
Rockin' intro Trollin'-good lyrics. The entire sound seems very now with all of these reflective shards all around us. You can't have friends-nobody wants. You gotta love a song used as a weapon against specific types. ATM reminds me of The Stooges performance on cable with Henry Rollins pre-Lollapalooza. ATM has great rattling build ups. My Idea Of Fun is a grand gesture (in my view). The Killing & King references go right along with all of this oil for blood b.s!!! The Weirdness is creepy, dragging along all sickly cool. This song tells us that the weirdness is her-now!
Free & Freaky in the U.S.A., to my ears, is some sort of explanation or manifesto type. I could be wrong-maybe I need to clean out my ears (if I'm wrong) Greedy Awful People is a rockin' punk/blues thang about not being able to relate to own class-topped off with a drawer of humanity in general. She Took MY Money is a tale about basic economics-she never said thank you. You can beat the system but you can't beat the miss! The End Of You & Me is all within the end of Christianity. This song clips along kind of quick and off center all within itself. Mexican Guy isa great story tune of melted sanity that makes me think of drugged out dreamers that lost everything all up n' down all of California. Passing Cloud is a Stooges tune I can see many people skipping over & that could be a shame. Sometimes in life you have to give some songs a few more listenable chances. Passing Cloud feels like it's a disjointed time lapse photography journey to me. I'm Fried is a self explanatory ditty about end-of-the-line-overall-negative views. I love it as it spirals around and around until it's dizzy end.
