Reading Rooms
A friend at work started a bookclub recently, and I was very happy to join. We're going to read a book a month and meet once each month at a local establishment to talk about the current book. The list looks like this:
* Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
* Beijing Confidential by Jan Wong
* Postcards by Annie Proulx
* The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
* Assassin's Song by M.G. Vassanji
* Virgin's Lover by Philippa Gregory
* Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures by Vincent Lam
* Blindness by Jose Saramago
* Time in Between by David Bergen
* Tastes like Cuba by Eduardo Machado
* The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav
I finished Kite Runner a few minutes ago. It's an excellent novel, and I recommend it to anyone out there without reservation.
We've started up a blog to go along with the book club, called Monica's Excellent Reading Room (because Monica started the club). As most everyone is still reading the first book, the blog is just getting started, but I'd like to invite everyone to drop by. If any of you would like to join in and comment on the books through the blog, please do. Your comments will be welcomed.
At the same time, I'm participating in the Winter Reading Challenge - or at least I will be as soon as I choose some books! The Fall Reading Challenge turned out to be quite successful - lots of commentary on all kinds of interesting books.

I hated Blindness Let me know when you post about it so that I can launch a diatribe.
will do, LM. I haven't read any of his work. I think Tuffy read one of them and liked it and is reading another now - not Blindness though.
