Hustle and Flow Revisited

We watched this one on DVD the other day. It must be about the third viewing for us. Hustle and Flow is a very charming Hip Hop American Dream movie. It's as good as it is on the strength of superb performances by Terrence Howard, Anthony Anderson, Taryn Manning, Taraji P. Henson, the delightful DJ Qualls, as well as cameos by Isaac Hayes and Ludacris as Skinny Black. Terrence Howard plays a low-rent pimp with a dream of becoming a rap star. This one's maybe not for the kiddies. I thought this was one of the best films of 2005, and it still hold up for me. I give it 5 salties and a box of BBQ from Neeleys.

Did you watch the oscars the night It's Hard Out There For a Pimp won best song. The Hip Hop artists who accepted the award were in the most hilarious state of joy I've ever seen on live TV.
