This is where the patio is going....
This area, in the back corner of our yard is where I'm making the patio. The red Japanese Maple screens the area from the rest of the yard, so it is a private little nook. I was in Kensington Market today, where I bought some camouflage netting which I'm going to install over the patio for partial shade. I'll document the progress each day - I have next week off work to do the patio and the pathway to it. Stone comes Monday, and I'll have to move it all to the back, and then Tuesday, gravel and limestone screenings will be delivered. I'm ready with landscape cloth, shovels, a wheelbarrow and a tamper.

Don't forget knee pads!
Last summer, we laid 72-16"x16" patio blocks from our back door to our garage...I feel your pain. ;)
Ouch yes good idea and needed tshsmom, knee pads a MUST!
Hey I love the idea of the camo for shade...that is going to be cool. We have camo curtains in our kitchen and I'm crazy about them.
Looking forward to the pics...
Wow that's going to be amazing. A cozy garden nook in a spot where you can really enjoy the Japanese Maple. Good choice.
Well tshsmom, I've been fearing this job because through much of the winter and spring, I've been having problems with strained ligaments in my left knee. Fortunately, the problem is mostly healed, but I will get some kneepads before I start laying stone for sure.
Candy, after we decided to use camo netting, Tuffy P called up an army surplus store to ask if they sold it, and the guy replied, "does McDonalds sell hamburgers?". I think it is going to be an inexpensive and elegant solution. I'm really looking forward to reading on the new patio!
sp, I don't know if you recall, but I'm sure when I first posted pics of the backyard during the winter and said I wanted a patio nook, you suggested this very back corner. This has really been a disused part of the yard, a pathway to the shed and not much more. You're right, the Japanese Maple will be right there in full splendor, plus it screens the patio from the driveway.
