We went out looking at stone yesterday - I'm going to do some landscaping in the back yard this year, including a new patio tucked back in by the secret lab and the garden shed. We really like a tan-coloured square cobblestone we saw!

Agreed. The cobblestone is nice. Glad to hear you're moving forward on the landscaping. I think the patio will be a nice retreat there.
Is the tan square second picture up? Sounds like sort of an artist's haven back there that you are creating - I'm just looking at my spaces, sighing, looking at all the myriads of plants for sale, sighing some more - I guess if we get the grass back maybe next year we can make the sexy part - like stone walks, a real studio, etc. Sounds like your ideas are forming up for the landscape project!

yes Gardenia, the yellowish-tan square cobbles....the plan is to do the hidden patio and a curvy path this year...I'm taking a week off work in mid-May to do the job. I say hidden patio because from the house and the street, there is a big Japanese Maple and the blackberry brambles that will partially obscure what is back there.
me again - i just returned from blood tests and the place had a courtyard done in similar looking tiles - it was beautiful - they had used a straight pattern in places, then a fan pattern in other places. There were I think either elephant ears or castor bean plants on the sides (about 3-4 feet tall, split leaves) - a small table, two white wrought iron chairs - it was really inviting!
