Obama officially begins quest for U.S. presidency
Obama: "Let's have universal health care by the end of the next president's first term." I don't know anything about this fellow, but I'm intrigued.

I don't know much about him either. Here in America, we vote for the lesser of two evils. It would be wonderful to vote for someone with a vision for once.
Unfortunately, vision or not, I don't beleive our country is open to a black or a female president yet. I'll vote for whoever runs against Bush, but I'm skeptical of my neighbors. We are in the grips of a Texas-cowboy-born-again-Christian-who's-got-the-ear-of-God. Let's face it. We are in a Dark Ages.
Well, he seems to at least have his priorities straight.
Obama is extremely bright, articulate,and charismatic. funny thing is,rightnow his biggest base of support seems to be "Reagan Democrats" i.e. Northern white male union members generally hostile to black and female candiddates.
Obama is impressive all around and we've been watching him since the last election. I think at some point, maybe even the next two years, he'll be an impressive contender. As Lee is, I am now in a southern very conservative Christian area. I may just get involved in the democratic party before this is over with (shudder).
