Eastern Slopes battle looms

This article, from the Calgary Herald talks about the reality of a development boom in the hills of Southern Alberta. I'm glad I've had an opportunity to spend some time in the Crowsnest Pass, because things are changing fast. The article quotes Cowboy songster Ian Tyson: "The current policy of liquidating oil and gas resources as quickly as possible is not in Alberta's best interests. It is destroying agricultural communities, wildlife diversity, recreational tourism, and the signature landscapes all along the Cowboy Trail".

thanks to eken2 for sending the article.

how sad. our continued ravenous appetite for oil and gas endangers much of not only our natural beautiful sites, but our cuiltures as well. Here in Hoosierville, we are plowing under acres and acres of prime upland bird and small game habitat in order to meet the countires increasing demand for ethanol.

very sad!
