Pancho & Lefty

Check out these two versions - Townes van Zandt himself, singing his heart out from 93 and then a duet, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.

Townes has a million years of sadness in his voice, doesn't he? And then Weird Bob takes the Merle Haggard part in the duet, but Bob's vocals cut like a knife. Two quite different versions of a fabulous song.

For those who crave it, find more Townes here.

Update: Ok, here's the "hit" recording featuring Willie and Merle and way too much production. They must have realized the producers were butchering the tune, but maybe they figured that the song was so good it couldn't be ruined.
