Mount Pleasant to the Brickworks
Mount Pleasant Cemetery is a great place for a walk. It is one of Toronto's most beautiful cemeteries. We stopped at the grave of William Lyon Mackenzie King, once Prime Minister of Canada. We had a discussion about the meaning of the stones with the urn shape on top, with drapery. Anita and Behzad said they were told the drapery had a specific meaning - they thought it may mean a sudden death. Can anyone shed some light on this? What is the tradition?
On leaving the cemetery, we walked down Moore Park ravine toward the old brickworks at Bayview Ave.

I am enjoying these walks & photos. I have never been to the Brickworks, but I really should go.
Here are the meanings of the grave symbols.
Urn - Immortality, penitence, death of the body and its return to dust in the final resting-place.
Drapery - Sorrow, mourning.
