Little Ricky

Foggy Mountain Special

Ah man, I hate to innundate you with video like this, but I stumbled across this and needed to share it. This is 7 year old Ricky Scaggs picking the Foggy Mountain Special. This is enough to just take the piss out of somebody working hard at mastering an instrument in any style. Every now and then you come across somebody who had music as standard equipment.

He was cute huh? Good grief...and talented. Lets hear it for parents who give their kids musical instruments!!!

Factor out the cuteness (or precociousness anyway), factor in that he probably had been playing for a couple of years even then and been around loads of musicians. He doesn't play anything super fancy - mostly the chords and a couple of scale runs. (And a damn sight easier on the mandolin with those little hands!) Yes, it's good, but no more so than any other of the 7 year old musicians you see around. (Particularly those that grow up in the middle of nowhere with not very much else to do....) There are some amazing 7 year old accordion players!

ya,ya,ya.....I'm sure there are some 7 year old accordion players that play a damn site better than I do, that's for sure. Thank you for sharing, mister.
