My mom used to love watching his show. He would sing opera while he cooked up a mess of Italian food.

mister anchovy said...: I thought the singing was charming first time out...after all, preparing food can be a joyous activity.......but it wore thin pretty quickly after that.

Tuffy and I have been watching old Julia Child French Chef episodes recently. They're a blast!; 7:59 p.m.
greatwhitebear said...: I used to like to tune him in on occasion. He just made you feel good to watch him cook!

While my mom taught me to like to cook, it was watching Jeff Smith (The Frugal Gormet), Martin Yan (Yan Can Cook), and Pasquale where I learned the techniques of cooking. Unlike Julia, Martha, and the dozens of other snooty, High brow cooks and chefs on TV, these guys actually made it look easy and fun. When you watched them you said,"hell, I can do that!"; 10:04 a.m.
mister anchovy said...: I grew up watching a Canadian guy from the west coast, James Barber, who had a show called The Fry Pan Man, where he cooked everything in one cast iron fry pan.....; 4:48 p.m.
