Where's the money?

George Smitherman said yesterday he was "perplexed" by the TTC's plan to buy 204 new Bombardier streetcars without having the $1.22 billion in the bank to "write the cheque.

When the streetcars were announced a few days ago, I thought it was a done deal. If the province isn't going to pick up the tab, then who's going to pay? Or will the deal fall through?

A few months ago, Mr. Smitherman was being touted as a potential candidate for mayor come next election. Are we seeing some early posturing going on?

Beyond the political bickering, I hope they find a way to get us the new streetcars.

These stories just keep on giving. Well at least, if these are problems..then count blessings not really problems...
