Snow, snow, snow....

When I awoke this morning, there was several inches of fresh snow on the ground here in Toronto. It stopped for a few hours in the late morning and early afternoon, but by about 3:00, it was snowing steadily again, getting worse by the hour. I shoveled at about 5:00 and by the time I was finished there was already plenty of accumulation on the areas just cleared. I went out to shovel again at 10:00, and cleared the area at the bottom of the driveway. I was going to clear the whole driveway again but the wind was blowing the snow around so fiercely, there didn't seem to be any point. I'm going to go to bed in a few minutes and get up early to shovel out in the morning. Frank says there will be freezing rain overnight. I hope not. I'm just fine without an ice storm.

A female tabby has been taking refuge on our front porch tonight. We've seen her around the neighbourhood several times over the past month. It appears that Shadow and William have made friends with her. William was out on the porch for a half hour tonight and I'm sure he was telling stories of the good life inside. When I went outside to shovel, she ran back out into the snow and then under my car. I left a big handful of cat food in a sheltered area under the bench on the porch, and when I checked ten minutes after I came back inside, she was back there eating it up. Good - she'll have a full belly and some decent shelter on the porch overnight. We don't know if she has a home or not, as we don't see her out all the time. I hope she has a good family; she's a nice cat.

Sounds like you might end up with a new addition to the Anchovy/Tuffy P family...? News of your generous and sympathetic nature towards those of the feline persuasion has gotten around the neighbourhood.

Last night we just wanted to give that Tabby a full belly. It was quite a bad snowstorm. It looks like this one or maybe a different one has been taking shelter under some tarped-up garden furniture out back. You can see tracks going in and out.

It breaks my heart to think of that little kitty out there in the storm. I'm glad she's finding shelter at your house since you and Tuffy will make sure she's fed.
