On the way home from work, I stopped at...

...a gas station to fill up the anchovy-mobile, and when I tried to pay with my debit card, it was refused. Fortunately, my credit card was working. I stopped at a bank machine to see if the card would work there. Refused again. It turns out, my card number has turned up on some kind of police report of stolen cards, so the bank blocked my card for my own protection. Fortunately, nobody managed to grab any dough from our account. I have to get the PIN reset tomorrow.

I use my debit card all the time, way more than I use cash these days. It is really disconcerting when you realize how easily your bank account could be compromised.

This happened to the Wasband and his account was cleared out. The bank repayed it all, but it was a pain. I'm glad your funds are still intact! I am more nervous now about using my debit card and I take much more care when I punch in my PIN, but I really think I should start using cash more.

Ha! We're on each other's blogs at the same time, I see!

I like the new look, BTW, and I apologize for my absence. I am thinking about a post for this blog...probably around the proposed golf course they want to put in in our watershed. Very controversial here, probably boring for everyone else though.

Why the picture of Buckingham Fountain?

Is that what it is, WC? I was scouring through some old pictures in my photo files, and came across this one. I don't even know where I got it. I thought it might have been a photo from Portugal. Shows what I know. I have a few different banners lined up, and plan to change them fairly often.

Golf courses are generally bad for the land. They suck a lot of water, and as well, they use all kinds of pesticides that make their way into our streams. I'm looking forward to reading about it.

Yeah, I thought you were tipping your hat to Candy down in Chicago, because that's a Chicago shot, man!

They want to put the golf course ON THE SKI HILL. They just expanded the golf course at the bottom of Rossland to 18 holes from 9, and there is a proposed 3rd golf course across from the ski hill in what is now a cross country ski area. Enough is enough! We barely have enough water for the town as it is!

Hmm, this makes me think that maybe I should go back to the old ways and start carrying cash.
