Check out this charity event

A fellow I know through work named Dan Kelly is organizing a silent art auction event called hART for P.A.W.S. (Pozitive Awareness with Shelter) to raise awareness and much needed funds for Casey House and Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary.

Joyce Smith, the owner and president of the sanctuary will be turning 79 on the evening of the event. She basically runs this animal shelter on donations and her own retirement funds. There was an article on Ms. Smith on December 17, 2007 in the Toronto Star and another January 29, 2008 in the Toronto Sun.

Casey House Hospice, a world-renowned facility founded in 1988, provides a continuum of care for persons infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through a comprehensive range of palliative and supportive care services in a residential hospice and community programs.

The event is being held on February 22, 2008 at Harmony Hall, at 2 Gower St. in Toronto. As well as the auction, there will be live music and a cash bar. There will be over 20 works auctioned off, and these include a work donated by me and one donated by Tuffy P. as well. I know that Dan has worked very hard to make this very positive fundraiser a success. If you have a chance, drop by the auction on February 22, enjoy some refreshments, and bid on some excellent artwork. The painting I've donated to the auction is called In Shadow's Neighbourhood. As many of you know, Shadow is one of our lions. This work was previously exhibited in an exhibition called Big Show in Toronto in 2006.
