Paper in my shoe
Boozoo Chavis first recorded this one in the 50s, but here he is many years later. I love the name he gave his band, The Magic Sounds.
So what's the story? I've read:
....you buy a paper from the voodoo doctor and you put it in your shoe and it brings you what you need
....I got a hole in my shoe, because I'm so poor, and I put some paper in it
....or is it really Pepper in my shoe, and that's why I can dance like the devil....
I think it's the first choice. Here are the lyrics....
I’ve got a paper in my shoe
And my Baby don’t know
I’ve got a paper in my shoe
Trouble on my mind
And my Baby don’t know
My Baby don’t have no Blues
My Baby don’t have no Blues
No shirt, no shoes, no cares, no Blues
I’ve got a paper in my shoe
C’est un papier dans mon soulier
Et mon Beau ne connais pas
C’est un papier dans mon soulier
Mal dans ma tete
Et mon Beau ne connais pas
I’ve got a paper in my shoe
And my Baby don’t know
I’ve got a paper in my shoe
Trouble on my mind
And my Baby don’t know
