Marie

I have a random mix of music happening on my computer right now, and this song, Marie, by Townes van Zandt just came up. It has to be one of the saddest songs I've ever heard - and Townes was the master of the ultra-depressing song lyric. Maybe me and Marie can find a burned out van, do a little settling down. Think of that next time you're having a bad day. So, here it is. Sit back and let Townes worry about his problems. Yours can't be quite that bad.

I had two opportunities to see Townes perform - once at the Horseshoe and again a few months later at the Bathurst St. theatre - both times, he was (seemingly) sober and really fantastic. If you're planning to go out and buy one of Townes' CDs, let me recommend Live and Obscure. I could listen to that one over and over again. The version of Marie I posted comes from Abnormal.
