Community residents vocal in opposition to museum condo proposal

The Royal Ontario Museum had an idea that they could fund a south extension to the museum + other goodies, if only they could build a 42 story condo on the site of the former planetarium. The public was not amused...in fact, the public has been very vocal in opposition to the proposal.

Today, the ROM bowed to public pressure and withdrew the proposal. This will leave them with a significant funding and planning challenge for the future. Stay tuned.

I liked Christopher Hume's take on this in the Star. While I am not convinced that this was the right place for a huge condo, the building was quite nice and far better than the ugly shoe going in next to the Hummingbird Centre.
