my st. clair
We went for a walk across St. Clair to Oakwood, up to Rogers and back west to Blackthorn this afternoon. Here is a business supporting the Save our St. Clair side in the city's bid to create a transit right-of-way for street cars. The city has claimed that one of the judges on the panel that stopped construction was biased. It looks like there will be a new hearing. I hate to say this, but I believe the city will almost certainly prevail. If that happens, what will the new St. Clair look like?

It'll look like Spadina.
There was outcry when that went down too.
Now, to be honest...it's hell for cars and great for pedestrians.
But, that seems to be the city's whole mandate.
The problem and the difference between st clair and spadina, is that there are 5 or 6 other chinatowns in and around the GTA.
St Clair will forever be changed if the balance of car and pedestrian is not kept...since many come from the suburbs to shop authentic.
But, I still think that the construction time will kill many a business.
Spadina isn't half as interesting as it once was. The street was going to change anyway for sure, since the garment industry was pretty much toasted, but still....
That is exactly what a city should look like!
