Grand River
I spent the afternoon and evening on the Grand River, below Fergus Ontario, today. There were plenty of insects coming off the river - cahill, sulphur, and olive mayflies, as well as at least two different varieties of caddis flies. Small trout were rising through the evening, and I caught and released a few of these. No sign of the larger browns though. I spoke with a fellow who was going in when I was going out....he said the bigger browns had been feeding at about 10 p.m. on the olives falling to the river, laying their eggs.
