Always Measure First

The folks across the street bought a new sofa yesterday - a nice leather one, and they asked me to help them bring it in through the front door. They didn't measure first, and the sofa didn't fit. So they took the back door off. It's a sliding door, and bigger, and asked me to help them bring it around back, up a set of stairs and in that way. No problem. We get it into the kitchen. They hadn't measured the doorway from the kitchen to the living room, though, and, you guessed it, it didn't fit. Next step - take it back outside, and remove the living room window! Moral of the story - always measure first.

I learned this the HARD way, early on in my marriage. I now carry a lightweight tapemeasure in my purse!
BTW, thanks for the article on Hostas a while back. I divided and transplanted some of mine and they're doing beautifully! One of my transplants is even flowering!

Uh oh, I have a couch coming on Monday. I already know that if the fridge dies, it's going out in pieces. A wall was added that now makes removal impossible. Getting a new one in should be fun.

ZF-We just got a new fridge. I measured EVERYTHING and they still had a hard time getting it in.

We'd like to get one of those la-z-boy loveseats, but I don't think it will fit.
We REFUSE to bring anything through the windows. We just spent 2 yrs making them leakproof, after a contractor screwed up the installation!
