Corso Italia Fiesta

There is going to be a street festival on St. Clair Ave. in the hood this summer. It will happen July 8 - 10, and I read in The Villager that they are going to close St. Clair for the weekend. It should be a gas - food, drink, music.... "Corso Italia" is the name the "business improvement association" adopted for a section of St. Clair Ave. West, even though St. Clair has become a delightfully multicultural corridor across the north side of the city. Let's enjoy this now because St. Clair is going to change and change a lot. They are planning a street car (that's an electric trolly for our American friends) right of way, similar to what they have done along Spadina Ave. It will mean parking on St. Clair will be ancient Canadian history. The flavour of the community will inevitably change. Will it be for the better? I remain skeptical about the upcoming changes. I'm not convinced they will improve the hood in a community sense - I know a lot of people disagree, and I'm open for discussion.

If you depend on the streetcar,.. great you get places faster. As for the street party, super great!
Let's get down to it one day.
