Indians Cowboys Horses Dogs
Here's a CD review. I bought a copy of Tom Russell's Indians Cowboys Horses Dogs CD for Mrs. Anchovy for Christmas and it has been getting a lot of play around here. It begins with an excellent cowboy original, Tonight We Ride, followed by the old Bob Dylan tune, Seven Curses (you know the one about the bastard judge who promises to let a young woman's father free if only she will sleep with him). Track 3 will knock you on the floor - a really fantastic version of the Marty Robbins tune El Paso, featuring Joel Guzman on the three row button box. Joe Ely makes an appearance, singing on another Bob Dylan tune, Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts. Guzman, who plays in Ely's band as well as being one of the top Conjunto players around, also plays B3 on this cut. Russell even does a Woody Guthrie tune, East Texas Red. If you're into the kind of folky dolky cowboy rootsie accordion-friendly music I like, you'll really enjoy all the cuts on this CD - even the cover of The Ballad of Ira Hayes, a song that gets butchered by just about everyone who tries it (Townes van Zandt used to do a nice version in his live shows too). This one rates 5 anchovies.

WOW...you musta really like it...posted the review twice! LOL. Actually, it sounds very much like something I will enjoy. It will go on my "things to purchase as soon as my bank account recovers from Christmas" list. Right after Jim Valley's ROLLING SEA.
I posted the review and nothing happened after about 5 minutes, so I tried posting it again....I ended up with two, which is at least better than none...cheers.
