Hornets

We had two large hornet nests in the spruce that overhangs our back deck, here at Anchovy World Headquarters. Normally, I'm a live and let live kind of guy when it comes to wasps and hornets, but this was beginning to be a problem, so I called in the experts. They use long poles, spray insecticide foam into the nest from the end of the pole, then cut the nest out of the tree. We thought there was only one, but once that was down, we saw clearly the bigger one in behind it.

Wow - just what everyone needs.

For future reference you could always try the Waspinator. It looks like a nest and you hang it to keep the real nest from being built.

Thanks SP. A number of people have told me that fake nests work. I'll try that for next season.

We have about six or seven nests of mud daubber wasps in our courtyard. They really take over the place and then it seems there are dozens of them flying around. It's funny they only nest on the sunny side of the court yard. I guess they like the warm ground.
