News on the Civic Workers strike

Earlier today, Union reps were quoted saying they hoped their new counter-offer would lead to a settlement. By this afternoon the rhetoric had shifted, and Union leaders were threatening to leave the table if there was no progress over the weekend. Inside workers were saying something different again. They were saying they would stay at the table, even if the outside workers left.

Mayor Miller responded: “I have stated repeatedly over the past several weeks that the unions needed to bring a sense of urgency to the bargaining table and get on with reaching an agreement.”

If there is going to be a non-legislated settlement, I think it will happen in the next few days.
