Buck Owens

Time to go back a few years and enjoy some music from Bakersfield. Turn up the twang. Bring on the rhinestones. This is Country and Western.

Love the outfits.

Buckeroo and Act Naturally

Finally, here's Buck Owens singing Loose Talk with Rose Maddox.

If you don't know Rose Maddox, check out The Maddox Bros and Rose, the most colourful hillbilly band in America. They cut some great rockabilly sides in the late 50s!

You just don't see suits like that much anymore either.

I was thinking the same thing about the suits. I wonder if they'll come back?

Damn I loved this post! I first got into Buck Owens in in the early 90s while listening to the Country Gold channel on Music Choice. I went to You Tube and found some of my other faves by him (Love's Gonna Live Here Again and Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms). I couldn't find "Where Does the Good Times Go" though.

I'm listening to "I Gotta Go Get My Baby" by The Maddox Bros. and Rose right now, thanks for the tip. By the way, are you familiar with Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper? "There's A Big Wheel" is a song of theirs that I can listen to over and over.

Buck Owens went on to emcee "HeeHaw" with Roy Clark. The show itself was an embarassment to watch, but it featured some great country talent from the Grand Ole Opry, too, including the Hambone Brothers:

Malcolm, I've never listened to Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper, but I'm going to check them out. Thanks for the tip!
