Scientists map genome of woolly mammoth

But why?

This article talks about the remote possibility of cloning, but why? I'm not knocking the research, just trying to understand what they were thinking. Is it about flexing their scientific muscles? Or do they simply just want to better understand the beasts?

I don't know. Time magazine had the number one invention is a device for 400 bucks that can read your dna and tell you if your body is prone to certain deseases...I can't see how that is helpful.

If you're prone to alzeimers, prostrate cancer, heart desease...etc etc...what can you do? Cut carbs and eat green leafy vegies...

Why not save the 400 bucks and just cut carbs and eat green leafy vegies in the first place?

I think we should clone tons of prehistoric animals so that we can live in a Flintstonian paradise. Think of it: Brontosaurus burgers, etc. Yum. I'd love to have a woolly mammoth in my backyard or have a small dinosaur as a pet.
