Driving Nails in my Coffin....
over you... I don't know who wrote this one, Ernest Tubb or Floyd Tillman. Both recorded great versions, as did one of my personal faves, Ramblin Jack Elliott. Here's the Floyd Tillman version just to give you a benchmark.
Here's Andrew Hardin and Tom Russell
Mr. Hardin sure can find his way around that fretboard, can't he?
Rhonda Vincent and the Rage do a nice bluegrass version
This tune has been well recorded. Other performers who took a stab at it include Asleep At The Wheel; Mike Auldridge;
Johnny Bush; The Country Rockers; Mike Henderson;
Cornell Hurd; Jimmy Johnson; New Duncan Imperials;
Osborne Brothers; Starlight Drifters; Supersuckers;
Hank Thompson; Charlie Walker;
The Wanktones; Larry Welborn; The Wilburn Brothers.
Yes, I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Every time I drink a bottle of booze
I’m just driving nails in my coffin
Lord, drivin’ those nails over you...

The writer was Jerry Irby. He also has a version. And, really, the tune and general subject matter are closely related to the old public domain song "St. James Infirmary."
