Caught a book

I took the day off work today to deal with some work around the house. After that was taken care of, I hopped on my bicycle and rode across town. I stopped in at Ben Wicks pub on Parliament St. I knew this was a major BookCrossing zone, so I looked through the available books and started in on one while I enjoyed beer and fish & chips. I've only been participating in BookCrossing a very short time, and this is the first book I've "caught in the wild".

The book is The Bean Trees by Barbara Kinsolver. I've never heard of it and know nothing of the author either. It's quite interesting so far.

This is such a marvelous concept! The closest books released near me were apparently in Green River at the Flying J truck stop. That's about an hour away, and I'm totally tempted to go hunting for them and release a few of mine. I have a mind to unload some Annie Proulx, like you.

I know people who do the Book Crossing thing. It never caught on with me, but maybe it will someday. These people have had others chase after them to tell them that they had forgotten their book. It's quite comical.
