First dead dogs, now dead racoons found
Investigators believe poison deliberately placed in a park that killed two dogs and left six others sick, may have been tested on raccoons, beforehand. Apparently water made available for dogs was spiked with anti-freeze.
This happened in High Park in Toronto, where there is a designated off-leash dog run area. At least one of the raccoons was found posed with a bouquet of flowers in it's paws.
What kind of freaky killer moron is loose in High Park? Who would poison racoons and house pets? Early reports suggested the dog poisonings may have been as a result of a dispute over the existence of the off-leash area.
Is this what happened, or is there somebody out there practicing to be a serial killer?
Should we have off-leash dog areas? I think so. It gives dog-owners an opportunity to socialize their dogs to other dogs and to other people in a controlled setting, and I want to see well-socialized dogs in my community.
I hope they catch the asshole responsible quickly.

I heard this on the news this morning; it was all over Newsworld. It's absolutely sickening, and like the raccoons, God only knows how many other innocent animals are going to die because of this: birds, squirrels, etc. I hope they catch this bastard!
This is why the animal cruelty laws need to be updated so that when they do catch the psycho they will get more that a fine.
Unfortunately, the inadequate animal cruelty bill passed that resulted in little change to laws that are at least a hundred years old.
I feel so sorry for the animals who suffer such cruelties.
Well, since I am a HUGE fan of The Dog Whisperer - I have to say when away from home, for the dog's safety, they should be leashed for various reasons - some dogs aren't so well behaved and will attack other dogs, some dogs will run away chasing small animals per their doggy nature and get into trouble, and ........well, these serial killer poisonings -
I let my cats out at night, except for one, and I'm well aware of the danger that awaits unleashed animals and I feel guilty as heck when I do it but they torment me until they get their way.....but if something happens it is my fault for allowing them to be at risk....so I am torn both ways......somehow though dogs seem so much more vulnerable than cats......
There is something about antifreeze which is irresistible to pets and young children.....glad we don't need it down here.
