There will be Blood

We saw There will be Blood this afternoon. This brilliant film was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (known also for Magnolia and Boogie Nights) and stars Daniel Day-Lewis. The film was adapted from the book Oil! by Upton Sinclair, from back in the 20s. It is the story of an "oilman", who finds oil, buys and leases land, sets up rigs, and aquires wealth and power.

This film will live with me for a long time. As Woody Guthrie once wrote, "Look what your greed for money has done".

Just go see this one. On the 5 fish anchovy rating scale, this film gets an oil pipeline, all the way to the sea, packed full of tasty salties.

Ok to make this comment I have to admit to watching The Young and The Restless, BUT Daniel Day Lewis is channeling Victor Newman in this film. Great filming, swirlingly claustrophobic.
