These pictures are from a swamp tour we took near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. I know Mr. Four Dinners wanted me to stand in the swamp and play the accordion, but there was this little matter of alligators.....

That's a pretty swampy looking swamp... Was it buggie? As in...mosquitoes?
Those crocs are incredible looking. You look to be so close to them. Do they care or notice?
WC, mosquitoes are no problem in the swamp. Our guide told us they are there, but the dragon flies and the birds eat a lot of them. I didn't see one mosquito well we were out there.
SP, they are actually gators...crocks have the exposed teeth I think, and live elsewhere. They can only see straight ahead, apparently, so it's possible to sneak up on them if the wind is in the right direction. We were able to get within 15 feet or so of some of them before they detected us. Everytime one of them realized we were there, it quietly slipped off the log into the water. Remarkably graceful.
Looks like you were in Lake Martin. It's one of the top places to bird watch. And the Maison Des Amis Bed and Breakfast Inn is a wonderful place to stay when you come to visit the area.
Yes, we were in Lake Martin. We didn't stay at Maison des Amis, but we had lunch at the restaurant, and it was fantastic!!!!
Well he's only a little gator...
