Can fire slow down the pine beetles?

Here is a follow-up to posts made by WC a while back about the beetle problem in mountain west forests. This article talks about Alberta burning an area of forest to stop the spread of the pine beetle.

Hmph.

But in the meantime, we're still losing pines. It's great that other trees will flourish with the extra water, but there's nothing like pine!

Fire has not worked in Wyoming. They seem to be like fire ants in the south - if a catastrophe hits them, they just move over.
