Just what is an antique?
I was planning to go fly fishing yesterday afternoon, but first spent the morning with Tuffy P. wandering about the Flamboro antique show. This place is just south of Guelph. So just what is an antique? The bulk of the stuff we saw in the various booths wasn't all that old. Some of it was maybe 'retro' and a lot of it I'd call 'odds and ends'. There was a fellow there with a number of accordions and button boxes and fiddles for sale. One of the button boxes, an old 2-row Hohner, was playable, but he was pretty ambitious with the $380 price tag. There was one old 2 reed piano accordion that was playable as well, but it wasn't a box I would buy. He had an old Russian 'bayan', 'b-griff' chromatic button accordion there that was quite beautiful, but the bellows were very loose and several of the reeds were not sounding. It would cost a lot to resore. Interesting to see it though.
I posted a few pictures from my afternoon on a trout stream at the Southern Ontario Fly Fisher.
