Was it something I said?

I couldn't help but notice that visits to this little oasis have dropped in half in the last week. Is this summer blogging doldrums, or is it something I said? Well, mister anchovy, a friend said, you HAVE been posting a lot of accordion videos lately. Har, I say! And you have been very critical of that nice man Mayor Miller in the last week. Bah, I say!

So who's still coming, beyond what Phil Ochs called 'a small circle of friends'. Let's look at recent search words:

cfrb radio the motts pictures - well, I certainly wouldn't post those!
beau jest long beach - I HAVE written about Beau Jocque.
mister anchovy - that's me!
johnny cash finger - ya,ya,ya already
vibrandoneon - I'm not sure why google picks this one up. Maybe I posted a pic of one once?
mr.anchovie - only one person spells my name this way.
bonnie stern, guacamole - is pretty good
scrubby and the dynatones - may have been the best polka band in the 80's, out of Buffalo New York
johnny cash unearthed - ya,ya,ya already
johnny cash unearthed - you'd think all I do is write about Johnny freakin Cash
exotic-beast - The beast in me is held by frail and fragile bars / Nick Lowe
mister anchovy - hey that's me again
johnny cash finger - ya, ya, ya
vibrandoneon - again
johnny cash finger - OK, already
John Howlin Artist painter - an old friend who died not so long ago
johnny cash finger - !
john howlin - again
Bukowski obit omaha, nebraska - I like Bukowski's work, but I don't think I've written about it, or at least not much
mister anchovy - me again

An idea for the future

For some time, I've nurtured the idea of evolving this place from mister anchovy to mister anchovy's - featuring a number of regular 'columns' by various people who hang out here. One person might write about movies, or books; another might write about food; another might write about art, and so on. I'm open for suggestions. The problem of course is that most people who want to write on blogs, write on their own blog.
If any of you out there are interested in participating in this experiment and writing or posting on mister anchovy, email me and let's talk (email: misteranchovy@excite.com). Meanwhile, it's about time for an accordion video, isn't it? Har!

You're right; it's the "summer blogging doldrums". :(
I still love ya!

I, of course, would love to post animated gifs of kitties playing musical instruments,on this blog specifically.

I find it elevates the discourse. Don't you?

My traffic is way down, too. I think it's probably the time of year.

I read this over at Archie's Archives; thought you might get a giggle from it: http://archiearchive.wordpress.com/2007/07/21/the-musician/

I also might be interested in your new blog idea.

OK - let me repost that link...

Here.

l.m. you're welcome to post anything you like on this blog specifically, with or without kitties...just say the word and access is yours.

w.c. I've been plagued with that accordion joke for some time...it usually comes after "whaddya call a pile of 50 accordions on the ocean floor - a good start". Let me know what you have in mind for the blog.

tshsmom - thanks! :)

Keep the accordion music coming! People are just enjoying the summer too much, wanting to be out working on their tan to sustain them while they blog into the winter.

Hiya, Mr Accordi- err Mr Anchovy. I found that joke while trawling through the very old usenet records on Google. I was interested in your comments about the "summer doldrums" as I have also noticed a big drop in my stats. Makes me feel quite unwanted.

I have sometimes wondered about a collaborative blog. How would it work?

How would it work?
Technically, no big deal....I would simply give posting access to whoever joins the neighbourhood, provide an introduction, maybe something on the sidebar, whatever, then post away.
In terms of how it might work in every other way, well I guess there is only one way to find out. In my little brain, I imagine dialogues developing, some different points of view. I would like to find people I feel comfortable with, but at the same time, I'm willing to take some risks along the way. I don't want to have a lot of structure nor a lot of rules. I had initially thought about having specialists, or 'columnists' on board, like movie freaks, ethnomusicologists, a travel commentator, a book reviewer....but the more I think about it, the more I think that it should develop organically. I like the idea that it might grow in ways that I don't expect.

I don't know that I have anything useful to contribute unless you want a leavening of humour - "I've got a million of them" - with maybe a few photographs.

I think letting it grow organically is a great idea.

I'm still visiting! Don't know if I'd have much to contribute to a visitor column but I'll still keep reading.

Archie,
If you'd like to add some humour or whatever your fancy over in this neck of the woods, that would be fabulous. Give it some thought... if you want to post, email me at: misteranchovy@excite.com and I'll send you an invitation for access. cheers.

PS, you have a terrific blog!

I find it hard to get around to blogs as often as I used to, and also hard to post as often as I used to. For me it's cyclical, a work thing. But I'm still here and visiting.

Visits to my blog are down too. It's the season!
