Fairytale

The Squeezyboy has posted the video of the Pogues classic Fairytale of New York. I forgot how beautiful that song is. The video isn't all that interesting but if you haven't heard Fairytale in a while, go on over for a listen. My kind of Christmas song.

Well, we listen to this song on Christmas eve every year since it came out, followed by Elvis and then John Lennons "so this is christmas"....

It is a cool song and groovy video alright!

I also love Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing Little Drummer Boy.

Last night we were doing impressions of "winter Wonderland" as if Christopher Walken was performing it...and then if Dylan performed it. I have a knack for either impersonation, but Stagg is very good at Walken, "singing" Both men would make evil work of the tune in many ways...

Indeed, it is a great song. One of my Christmas faves, along with Let it Snow (x3) by Dean Martin. Also, here in the UK, I Believe (by Elvis Presley, though * tells me that it was probably a cover back then) has become kinda like a Christmas song, and I love that one too!

And of course "Stop the Cavalry" by Jona Lewie has to be played at christmas, too, but "Fairytale of New York" is surely the best. I also have a soft spot for "Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)" by Elvis. You gotta love it for the title at least!

also, y'know, there was a TV show about zydeco playing over here the other night, and I'd intended to record it for you, but somehow I managed to get my days mixed up. If they re-run it, I'll be sure to make you a copy, if you're interested.
