Locust St.- 1954

Check out the 1954 musical selections posted on Locust St. They include a couple cuts by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Work with me Annie, and Annie had a baby. Mr. Ballard was also the originator of a cute little instructional dance tune known as The Twist. I had the good fortune of being at one of his shows many years ago at the Horseshoe Tavern, here in Toronto. It was packed and hot and Hank and the band came on in full costume, and they rocked the house! Also in this selection is a very hot cut by Margie Day, called take out your False Teeth Daddy (your mommy wants to scratch your gums). Finally, of note is the Lowell Fulson cut, Reconsider Baby. Those of you who saw Ray may recall that the boys in Mr. Fulson's band were considerate enough to introduce young Ray to heroin.
