in a phone booth at Jarvis and Richmond
I found myself downtown at a business function this afternoon - when I needed a phone booth to call my mechanic. The subaru was in the shop, and I don't own a cell phone (I'm still lost in the 80s I guess), but I found one at Jarvis and Richmond. Phone booths are becoming scarcer and scarcer. I enter. It smells like urine, but I make the call. As I'm talking to Frank the awesome mechanic, I notice a piece of paper strategically placed on top of the phone. I can't resist picking it up. On the back it says: 1994=2006 Y2K=2012.

Whoa nelly. The first thing that came to my mind is that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012.
I'm sure you can find many refernces about the Mayan calendar I quickly found this one.

Candy, what was the name of the guy who did the weird graffiti poetry on bridges a few years back? Remember that little book?
I was trying to remember his name too. One, the "tag anme" of the grafiti person, and then two the name of the guy who did the book. I know he was a gaffer for Egoyan/Croneberg...Owen something, oh there ya go, David Owens. Aren't you scared I know the Mayan calendar end? Just off the top of my head?
A lot of new age people, Wiccans, Pagans interpret that the Mayan calendar end hasn energy and predicition to it, this ending which is in force now gives humans a lot of momentum behind their actions. So the idea is that if we use these years for positive choices it will help the entire planet and population. But if we don't take advantage of the time now things will just get worse...(I learned this participating in a Wiccan season equinox celebration a couple years ago with my deadhead friend Sharon. Her brother has the flax seed oil company (http://www.omeganutrition.com/home.php)
