underground 4
Here is a painting from the Underground series I did a couple years ago. It isn't big, perhaps 2 feet high. I painted it with oil on a strange new material known as aluminum foam. The stuff has a foamy texture, sort of like styrofoam, except it is made of aluminum. I found out about it through my friend Charlie, who was doing some consulting with the people who developed it. He described it as a mixture of aluminum and special sauce, with air bubbled through it. It provided a unique but unforgiving surface to work on. I had a number of sample pieces, and made 8 paintings.
