One brother killed, two wounded, in alley shooting

Yikes, this is close to home...about a two minute walk away. When I came home from my day in Ottawa yesterday afternoon, the hood was swarming with cops. Tuffy P told me she heard it was gang-related, over a $40 debt. Here is what a.m. 640 is reporting:

TORONTO - Three brothers have been shot in Toronto's west end -- and one of them died.
Paul Pereira says his 29-year-old brother Mario was killed in a laneway, behind their house in the St. Clair and Old Weston road area. Two other brothers in the family of eight were wounded, but their injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

Reports say there were ten people were involved in the shooting, which took place just before 6 o'clock last night. There's no word on a motive at this point. The homicide squad is investigating.

Hm. T.O. is becoming just like a big US city.

I was shocked over that Catholic school bully/assault thing that was on the CBC today. No one knew about it my behind!

That's right.
The one who was shot through the leg was the dead guys brother. It was over a $40 tab of coke. The dealer was arguing with them, took out the gun, shot one guy in the leg...the brother went into his backyard and grabbed a baseball bat and went after the dealer. The dealer shot him dead.
At least that's what the brother said.
I don't want to say how I know this.

Sounds like you guys seems to know about this. I am wondering if this is the same Mario I used to know, I haven't seen him in ages, but the age and where he lived are the same. Have any tv stations posted a picture of him? I live in the UK now so the web is my only source. Would appreciate it if anyone had any other information.

I haven't seen a picture. It happened only a few blocks from where I live. The news dried up around this quite quickly. I wonder if the police asked the press to not publish too much. I heard that one of the shooters has turned himself in. The neighbours have said that there had been previous trouble in that laneway, with guys with knives and guns.

Thank you for getting back to me. It has been so unbelieveable to read about all the gun violance in TO. I lived there for 30 years knowing that there where only a few areas I shouldn't be after dark, but what is happening now is just shocking. I hope you all stay safe.
